![]() Adobe realized that users wanted to add profiles first-for both color fidelity and artistic expression-and moved them to the top of the Basic panel. They used to be located in the Camera Calibration panel.Īs more photographers started using them, some created profiles for artistic effects. While not 100 percent accurate, they let you get closer to what you saw on the back of your camera. This shift frustrated many photographers before Lightroom’s developers added camera profiles (presets that attempt to mimic the settings included in a camera’s JPEGs). This is why your thumbnails shift in color shortly after (or during) the import process. To do this, Lightroom looks at the image’s metadata-white balance and everything buried in your camera’s color menu-and interprets it as best it can.īecause Lightroom can’t interpret some proprietary camera settings, the preview almost never looks like the JPEG that you saw on the back of your camera. Behind the scenes, it starts to render the raw data into pixels you can view and work with onscreen (a process known as demosaicing). When you import this image into Lightroom, Lightroom initially shows you that JPEG preview as a thumbnail. This JPEG preview-with all of the color, contrast, and sharpening-is what you see in the LCD on the back of the camera. Switching to shooting in raw, your camera captures all of the raw data at the point of capture, but builds a small JPEG preview as well. ![]() When shooting in JPEG mode, the camera applies color, contrast, and sharpening to your image files.

![]() While not “official,” MADIS is very important. MADIS takes just about everything else that’s left (that doesn’t flow to ADDS). This process is very similar to that of ADDS data except FAA certified data is the only input to ADDS. ![]() MADIS’ website shows the flow of data through MADIS looks like this: You can verify which ASOSes and AWOSes share their data with ADDS by putting in an airport code or ICAO here: ASOSes are superior in some, but not all, ways to AWOSes. Data from an AWOS can go to ADDS or MADIS, and not all AWOS data goes to MADIS or ADDS. AWOSes can be controlled by the FAA, local or state governments, or private groups. by the NWS, FAA, and DOD, and the data from them flow to ADDS. It is important to know the difference:ĪSOSes are controlled cooperatively in the U.S. The ultimate goal is to get weather data to NOAA and NWS.īefore we start pushing data into the streams, we must first understand how the streams work. There’s are two main NOAA data streams: the ADDS and MADIS. My hope is that more data will be added to the streams over time so that the weather can be better understood and verified. The more weather data that is public, the more that is accessible to those who need it. The data streams themselves are public, and that’s the way they should be. There is nothing propriety here, and I link to public sites throughout the article. This blog post focuses on three things: 1) how the data flows, 2) how do get data into the data streams, and 3) how to fix errors in data points flowing into the data streams.Īll of this information is publicly and freely available on the Internet. Official weather records are great, but there is often an incredible amount of space between these sites, and daily, comprehensive weather records (including those with wind, snow depth, and snowfall totals) are almost entirely limited to airports in larger cities. It can take years to get existing and new points of information on the map integrated into one place, but it can be done. Surface observation data that is shared with NOAA (the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) and the NWS (National Weather Service) is also used in computer forecast models and for verification of weather conditions – including rainfall totals and wind gusts in active or severe weather situations. ![]() While satellite, radar, and model data can highlight and suggest threat areas, weather stations can directly observe, quantify, verify, and sample conditions. Some of the most underrated data in the country, in my opinion comes from personal weather stations, groups of weather stations called mesonets, and airport weather stations. It then worked, and so far no more BSOD on my machine. ![]() Option A: Duplicate the Boot Camp Assistant application package. I've already got the drivers for my GPU individually, TrackPad++ is more than enough for trackpad input and the generic Bluetooth/wifi drivers seem to work just fine. What are the newest Bootcamp drivers that support nVidia GPUs? This one uses an nVidia 330m discrete GPU, which given my daily driver MacBook Pro 16 (with an AMD GPU) runs Windows 11 perfectly fine out of the box would make me lean towards some incompatibility in the bundled nVidia graphics drivers being the issue. ![]() Does anyone have experience with putting Windows 11 on a similarly old MacBook Pro? I was fiddling around with an old MacBook that I had running Windows 10 stably for years and decided to bypass all the Windows 11 checks by splicing the Windows 11 install.wim file into a Windows 10 installer. In explaining Firewatch to other people, I’ve often likened its opening sequence to the infamous one from Up. Warning, this story contains spoilers for the ending of Firewatch. All because, when it came down to it, their choices didn’t matter. Steam reviews chronicle players building up endless expectations for a certain ending, and then being hopelessly disappointed. In the additive model, if the resulting spectrum, e.g. This is essentially opposite to the subtractive color model, particularly the CMY color model, which applies to paints, inks, dyes and other substances whose color depends on reflecting certain components (frequencies) of the light under which we see them. The RGB color model is additive in the sense that if light beams of differing color (frequency) are superposed in space their light spectra adds up, wavelength for wavelength, to make up a resulting, total spectrum. Each of the three beams is called a component of that color, and each of them can have an arbitrary intensity, from fully off to fully on, in the mixture. To form a color with RGB, three light beams (one red, one green, and one blue) must be superimposed (for example by emission from a black screen or by reflection from a white screen). Color printers, on the other hand, are not RGB devices, but subtractive color devices typically using the CMYK color model.Īdditive color mixing: projecting primary color lights on a white surface shows secondary colors where two overlap the combination of all three primaries in equal intensities makes white. My current desktop is relatively Tron inspired, using a lot of blues and greens, making it look pretty techy I guess. No third party apps required, those a glitched at best anyways, Geek Tool is the ultimate solution to any of your computer connected needs. You can even get things like your Twitter and Facebook feeds right on your desktop. Or maybe you’re a blogger and looking for quotes for inspiration, there’s a Geeklet for that as well. Geek Tool can help you out with that by giving you those statistics right on your desktop. Maybe you’re really into computer-intensive activities like video editing or photoshopping, and it would help you too see how much memory you’re using, what programs are using the most CPU, or something like that. The Pro version took a long time to scan a 1TB hard drive and found over 200,000 files. The Media version was able to find around 30 GBs of photos with about 85% of the files deleted still usable. The Media and Pro versions did a much better job. Sadly, it wasn’t able to find the specific files I deleted for the test. Her body convulsed and she held back, frightened at the pull to cross over, though this crossing was only a hair’s breadth width, not the faraway world of the ancestors. I slipped my hand into her chest and cradled the pulsing spirit heart of her being. She tossed and turned, feeling the energy of the other side but unable to wake to it. I drew close to the one we were here to help, a girl of eleven. In the morning they would say they had been pressed and they would shiver. She fastened on their sleeping forms and they choked, gulping for air, struggling vainly to wake. She nodded and threw a shroud over the home’s sleeping occupants, to keep them still until our work was done. We sailed swift and sure, alighting on a palm tree beside a darkened house. We flowed along it, shifting shapes - I an old brown owl. I had established a connection with her in the physical world and could see her soul cord faintly shimmering. Shy and quiet, she was my sister’s child. I had chosen my apprentice for her goodness. I didn’t need much, being a creature of the night.
